The Bond works when someone demonstrates that they care.
There is a lie within Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Charles Darwin actually wrote: “it's not the strongest or most intelligent of the species that survives but the one that's most adaptable to change.”
The person who survives is the one who is not fixed-minded.
Dov shares that in the latest research of Quantum Physics and Quantum Biology, Life exists in a dynamic relationship of cooperation. He states that humanity evolves through cooperation and community.
We experience our greatest stress and illness in isolation from others
The brain has Mirror Neurons that actually match what you are seeing.
Research out of University of Hawaii & Boston College
Synchronized movements, even blink rate
When you practice mirroring others behavior the Mirror Neutrons in other’s brain will register that you are like them.
Dov shares again the example of the company Unilever. They took their 56,000 employees through the same workshops to discover their identity and meaning. They found meaningful work.
49% increase in intrinsic motivation.
30% more satisfaction with their jobs.
27% happier just in their lives as human beings outside of Unilever.
77% more likely to go the extra mile!
What would happen if your people would go the extra mile?
Corporate evangelism and engagement.
“I'm actually more engaged in relationship, in my own life”
Your people will become your best recruiters for new talent.
You need to invest in your people by investing in their purpose.
What is the WHY of your WHY?
When you think about your why - it is specific, you are to serve. You are here to give to others what you could not even get enough of. When you figure that out, you will transform yourself and the world around you.
We all want Meaningful Work. We want to know that what we do matters.
Dov explains that we all live in a frequency. He uses the example of tuning into a particular frequency on the radio to bring you to stations with different music to underscore that we are not aware of the frequency that we are resonating.
According to Quantum Physics all of life has a wave that resonates a frequency. You need to be in tune / resonance with others by first being in resonance with yourself. How do you do that, by not being competitive, but rather collaborating with others.
Recent research is clear that Millennials identified meaningful work as one of the top things they want in a job. And Gen Z states that meaningful work matters even more to them.
In fact, one Millennial’s response was fairly typical: “If the work I am doing has no meaning or impact, I don’t think I will stay with that employer … I need meaningful work.
They want to contribute to the company’s strategic planning and be asked what they think. They want to know that their voice counts.
A lot of Millennials find meaning in our personal volunteer experiences.
They would put time in with you if it was meaningful. If a company would provide opportunities to volunteer and give back to the community as well, we would be hooked.
We just need to be asked.
There is a natural affinity to bond with others. There is a bonding chemical in our body called Oxytocin.
It is also the hormone of tribalism. Dov teaches about the difference when meaning is ascribed to behavior.
Bonding Oxytocin - vs - Nazi Oxytocin.
This bonding agent can be used to treat people as “other”
There is no “other”
We are all a part of one human family.
Worst advice was to spend time with people like you. Instead spend time with people who think differently than you. Get out of the Bubble> Silently sit with each other and put one person in the middle.
> Person in the middle rotates around, making 5-6 seconds of eye contact with each person.
Application Note:
> Before the exercise starts, have each person ask themselves…”how connected do I feel to this person?”
> Think about the same question again after the exercise. The connection will go up!
Secondly, Notice biases. Notice your own feelings of comfort/discomfort.
Remember that “We are all doing what we are doing in order to try and feel better” What are you doing to make them feel connected?
> Darwin: “It’s not the most competitive that survives, it's the most adaptable to change that survives” - through collaboration.
> As human beings, we are all bonded and connected.
> We have mirror neurons that reflect what’s in front of us and help us bond with others.
> Bonding is most effective around a common purpose, but this can have a dark side.
When something matters to you the impossible becomes possible. The only difference between “impossible” and “I’m possible” is the depth of meaning.
> We bond through Oxytocin but this can allow you to “other,” so try to bond with those you’ve seen as the enemy.
Stay curious about how you can create a bond that is so deep and profound that changes everybody that is in your sphere.
