You’re NOT breeding Caterpillars. Caterpillars must digest themselves in order to become a butterfly. To become the leader that you must become, you must be willing to dissolve all of who you have been. Right before the caterpillar breaks out of its shell, what is remaining of the caterpillar’s head falls off. Just like this, leaders need to get their ego out of the way. If you don’t, it will stop you from flying. As a leader you are teaching people how to fly.
What would you be willing to do for the power to fly?
Would you be willing to dissolve who you were?
If you can do this as a leader, your people will believe that they can also fly.Many leaders often lack Emotional Intelligence.
To integrate emotional intelligence, you need:
Emotional Maturity
Understanding how everything is a “mirror” reflecting your emotions back to you.
Emotional Literacy
To become aware of what the specific emotions are. To put words to your actual emotions.
NeuroScientist, Antonio Damasio states that “Emotions are enmeshed in the neural networks of reason.” You cannot come to any rational decision without emotions first. It is the emotion that allows you to come to the decision.
The best leaders are great at mastering their inner game of thoughts and emotions, in order to master their outer game on how they lead.

Purpose, Why of Why
We don’t live in an “Instagram” reality where everything looks great. That is not reality. That is, filters.
If you lack emotional intelligence and EQ training, then you will not be able to determine your purpose, “Why of Why?”
Have you ever looked at someone you know is really smart and ask how can they do such dumb stuff? You that they are smarter than their actions display! And why do they do it repeatedly? We all do these, but it is important to know why this is the moment of your personal transformation. And that only comes from understanding your emotional source code.Dov Baron is the architect of the concept of the Emotional Source CodeThis starts with understanding your Emotional Source Code at your emotional DNA level.
Dov shares about genetics and your emotional source code is like your DNA that has receptors that pick up signals from our environment from the membrane of the cells. Anatomy of meaning is like these membranes that collect signals that build your identity. Your emotional source code has given your anatomy of meaning that gives you identity. Unless you question your identity, you will never serve at the level of your capabilities and serve at the confines of your identity making everything about you.
All decisions are emotional first, but if those emotions are driven from your identity, you are not stepping into the greatness of who you can be.
Everyone you meet wants to feel better.
This is crucial in developing your culture of belonging. Most are in some kind of pain, however most are in denial of it. And do not allow ourselves to feel better. Then we end up with destructive behaviors that destroy our cultures. Ask yourself what are others trying to feel better about? Then ask yourself what do you do to feel better? What you are doing to feel better avoids what you need to feel that allows you to connect to your own soul that pulls you forward to serve. People feel better when they are seen, heard and valued.
ou need to live in the “now moment” You cannot do this if you are dragging everything in your past into today. Dov gives an example of being bullied at school. Your past has an emotional impact on how you lead. You need to examine your bias. Take the time to get to know yourself at a deeper level you will never be able to lead others.Take out a piece of paper and design our future
Design your future self without your current limitations
Write about your future self as if it’s already the present
Put real emotion in your description
Your present self is an echo of your past self. However, you want to create a future self of your own and of your team members that will pull them into a higher and unified future
How to recognize your emotional signposts:
Journal, get familiar with your feelings
Stop, breathe and get connected with your body
Dov, demonstrates a breathing exercise to allow yourself to get emotionally connected.
In your emotional awareness you become more emotionally mature and then have the ability to lead with emotional literacy with better decisions. Descartes Said: “I Think therefore I am,” neuroscience says “I feel therefore I am”
Stay curious about your emotional state about how you might be dragging your past into your present and poisoning your future.
Stay curious about the emotions you have suppressed and denied because they are a roadmap to a magnificent future.
