She is the recipient of the Mother Teresa Award, the Citizens Department of Peace Award, and the International Educators Award for Peace. The State of Vermont passed a Resolution honoring her life's work.
Nina's work stresses the creation of an inner revolution for social evolution. In order to build a better, more peaceful world, she believes we must begin with self-awareness.
The program begins with a short, powerful invocation/mediation that truly enlivens the Spirit of Unity in the World. We can contribute by repeating these powerful words as often as we feel inspired, knowing that others are doing so as well. It is meaningful to feel our connection to other human beings through the words of this heartfelt prayer.
After the brief invocation, Nina talks candidly about the importance of children and young people, the power of their understanding, and how we can cultivate it. Children are not only our future, they are our now.
Nina says: “I brought 250 young people from conflicting warzones to the United Nations on human rights in Vienna 10 or 15 years ago or so, and it was so interesting to see them understand finally that we are all human beings, that we have brown skin, white skin, red skin, yellow skin, brown hair, yellow hair, red hair, blue eyes, green eyes, but we all have a heart that pumps blood and have experiences of love and understanding, and that we have minds, brains. These young people presented at the United Nations asked the General Assembly, 'Why do you teach us to hate if we know we're really the same?' That kept the whole assembly quiet. Not one pin could be heard dropped.
Teachers, parents, counselors, and others will surely enjoy this heartfelt, eye-opening journey into the ways of thinking that activate and bring promise to the potential of our children and young people of the world today.
