26-Apr-2022
In this module, Barnet will explore the barrage of messaging that comes from every quarter of our reality, shaping our perception of creativity and the imagination. We are all products of our families, schools, entertainments, cultures. Barnet calls this effect “Structured Imagining,” because it is hand-me-down thinking that serves to strangle our creative potential rather than inspire us, and it is only through creative acts that we can rise above this conditioning. He will also explore the influence some historical figures have had in shaping our understanding of creativity, including Picasso, who said “Creativity is first of all an act of destruction,” making the point that creativity first shatters beliefs and assumptions we have mostly taken for granted. Barnet will also share with you a powerful tool that will loosen the grip of Structured Imagination on your own life.
