LIO 2014 - Bill Ury - Win-Win Agreements
59m
Steve Farrell hosts this call, introducing William “Bill” Ury, co-founder of Harvard's Program on Negotiation. Bill is currently a Distinguished Senior Fellow on the Harvard Negotiation Project. He is the coauthor, with Roger Fisher, of, Getting to Yes, a 10-million-copy bestseller translated into over 35 languages, and the author of the award-winning Getting Past No, The Power of a Positive No, and The Third Side. He is the author of the forthcoming, Getting to Yes with Yourself. Interestingly, he is also the founder of the Abraham Path Initiative which has charted the path that Abraham and his family walked over 4,000 years ago.
Bill’s extraordinary talent springs from a childhood question. He says, “I had the occasion to go to school in Switzerland when I was a child, in a school with children from many different cultures, maybe 30 or 40 different nationalities and cultures. I've always had that question of how can we human beings get along with each other and deal with our differences -- really appreciate our differences -- but also be able to reach agreements.”
While Bill works with nations in conflict, his profound message to us is about “getting to yes,” that positive and life affirming win-win situation we can reach daily in our interactions and relationships. Learn about the powerful move from a competitive mindset to a collaborative one in this important and truly inspiring program.
