4. Enneagram Type 9 - The Peacemaker

Take out your Mantra Sheet that you filled out during the last call. You’ll be adding to it. If you need another one, go ahead and print it again, and — this is important — fill in your final mantra from last time.
This is a “growing” document!, and will become a prompt for your daily practice so that change can be easy.
The type Nine’s gift of calm, inner peace is crucial, and something we ALL need to cultivate. It means stress becomes not just tolerable, but it’s easier to let go of having to carry it all day long. It means getting along with others more easily.
And, it means understanding all different points of view.
And, it can be a challenge to let your desire to “get along” and have peace with others cause you to invalidate your own needs, to hold back expressing your opinions or where you stand.
When you do that again and again, you start to feel that you don’t matter. AND, you may start to feel like others are treating you like a doormat.
Don’t do that!
What if, the next time you get angry, before speaking, you use what you learn in this module?
This is not the natural “gift” of Enneagram type Eight, but it is what the Eight in all of us most needs!
What if you could shift anger to curiosity, warmth, caring gentleness? And what if you could let go of controlling a situation?

Which of the mantras you experienced would be most important for you to cultivate in yourself?
Do you need more of the Nine’s gift, or something to diminish the challenge of Type Nine? Perhaps it’s some of each.
Take out your Mantra Sheet, and write down your final mantra for Type Nine in the appropriate box.
Practice the mantra and the mudra as often as possible.
Practiced when you don’t need it. That’s how you strengthen the neural pathway. Then it’s more likely to be there for you when you do need it.
This is what makes change easy!
